Watch EMS Today Education Director and Editor-in-Chief of Fire Engineering Bobby Halton and JEMS Managing Editor Ryan Kelley, along with their special guests Rommie Duckworth and Mike McEvoy in a special Google Hangout where they discussed EMS Today 2019 and the incredible classes, events and workshops that will take place over three incredible days at the incredible Gaylord Resort in National Harbor, Maryland. Along with talking about the educational offerings, the group talked about some of the challenges and opportunities that the medic community faces in the coming years.


Bobby Halton
Bobby Halton is the editorial director for the Clarion Fire Rescue Group. He's the editor-in-chief of Fire Engineering and education director of the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC). He began his fire career in structural firefighting with the Albuquerque (NM) Fire Department. He left as chief of operations in 2004 and joined the Coppell (TX) Fire Department as its chief. He left this position to assume his duties at Fire Engineering. He's a graduate of the University of New Mexico, has served on National Fire Protection Association technical committees and is active with the National Fallen Firefighters Life Safety Initiatives.
Mike McEvoy, PhD, NRP, RN, CCRN
Mike McEvoy, PhD, NRP, RN, CCRN, is the EMS coordinator for Saratoga County, N.Y., and a nurse clinician in the cardiothoracic surgical intensive care units at Albany Medical Center where he also teaches critical care medicine and chairs the hospital resuscitation committee. He is a paramedic supervisor and the CME coordinator for Clifton Park-Halfmoon EMS, a firefighter and chief medical officer for West Crescent Fire Department, a member of the JEMSeditorial board, and the EMS editor for Fire Engineering magazine. Mike is the chair of the International Association of Fire Chiefs EMS Section board of directors and lead author of the textbook Critical Care Transport and the Informed pocket guide series (Jones & Bartlett). In his free time, he is an avid hiker and winter mountaineer.
Rommie L. Duckworth, LP
Rommie L. Duckworth, LP, is a dedicated emergency responder and award-winning educator with more than 25 years of experience working in career and volunteer fire departments, hospital healthcare systems, and public and private EMS. He's a member of the JEMS editorial board, a career fire captain and paramedic EMS coordinator, founder and director of the New England Center for Rescue and Emergency Medicine and an emergency services advocate, author and speaker at conferences around the world.
Ryan Kelley, NREMT
Ryan Kelley, NREMT, is the managing editor of JEMS. He's the chair of the basics of life support subcommittee for the EMS Today conference, and he also serves as the logistics coordinator for the annual JEMS Games clinical competition.
